(1)Trigger the auto shut-off:
Generally, a good dehumidifier for grow tent has an auto shut-off function to protect the compressor. First, check the panel if the dehumidifier is in the power "ON" position. Then, confirm whether the dehumidifier is tripped or a fuse is blown.
How to fix:
If the fuse is blown, you need to replace a new fuse and turn on the unit (Tips, do not use other high-power electrical appliances meanwhile). If the fuse is well, just restart the machine.
(2) Beyond the operating RH range:
Confirm that the controls are in the "ON" position. Verify that the humidistat is set between its operating RH range.
How to fix:
Set the target RH at its operating range. If the dehumidifier still does not operate call a competent HVAC servicer.
Assuming that the dehumidification system was effectively operating in the past look for these simple repairs:
(1)Compressor:
If the blower is normally working, the compressor may have something wrong. Sometimes, the panel will also indicate an error code.
How to fix:
Call a competent HVAC company for service.
(2)Humidistat:
If the panel shows that it reaches the target humidity level while the plant suffers from high humidity, the humidity sensor or the humidity control is likely defective.
How to fix:
Use a separate calibrated hygrometer to determine the actual relative humidity in the grow room. If possible, several separated hygrometers should be placed where necessary, such as near buds and leaves. Then connect them to the grow room dehumidifier.
Assuming that the dehumidification system followed the proper start-up procedure and met expectations previously the following may now be the cause.
(1)Filter:
Check the diffusers on the registers for the dehumidified air have not been obstructed or the dampers closed off inadvertently. The return air filters in the dehumidifier are clogged and restrict airflow back to the dehumidifier. If the dehumidifier can only operate with the return air filter removed, it is clear that the condenser and/or the evaporator coil are plugged with debris restricting airflow.
How to fix: Regularly clean or replace the filter according to the instruction manual. You can contact with the dehumidifier supplier to purchase new filters.
(2)Without maintenance:
If the dehumidifier works in a harsh environment, it is more likely troubled by annoyed little objects, for example, lint, grasses, or leaves. These objects will restrict the in and out airflow to decrease the efficiency of the unit.
How to fix:
Regular maintenance is critical for efficient operation and long life of a dehumidifier.
