The desiccant dehumidification system removes water from the air by using a desiccant which is a material that easily attracts and retains water vapor. Desiccant dehumidifiers are particularly suitable for removing moisture from the air at low temperatures and low humidity levels.

The core of these dehumidifiers is a patented desiccant wheel made of corrugated material. Air passes through the flutes of the material and comes into contact with the desiccant. The incoming air stream releases its moisture into the desiccant. The air dries as it leaves the wheel. The loaded wet wheel slowly rotates into a second, smaller air stream that has been heated.

This smaller exhaust air flow, called reactivation air, heats the desiccant. The warm desiccant releases water, which is then taken away by reactivated air. The freshly dried desiccant material is rotated back into the process air to absorb moisture again. Desiccant dehumidification systems have become increasingly popular in recent years because of the reduction in equipment costs through modular design and the use of desiccant silicone wheels. It should be noted that the reactivation heat in the original desiccant system was produced by burning natural gas, but now all electric desiccant systems are available. These desiccant systems are very efficient and simple because they use the heat from the condenser to regenerate the desiccant wheel.

In order to better explain the working principle of desiccant dehumidification, we divide the process into the following steps: The dehumidifier absorbs the moisture from the air into the desiccant. The air to be dried or processed is conveyed through the rotor in the form of one air stream. The rotor brings the moist desiccant into the reactivation air stream to heat it. Moisture is discharged from the desiccant as water vapor. Humid, warm air is sent outdoors. The separate flows move in different directions, blowing all debris away from the processed air. Last, the dried air circulates back into this area. 

When quick and complete drying is the desired result, the desiccant dehumidifier can perform all its functions.
