Controlling humidity will help with the mold problem, but not eliminate it completely. Mold will also remain active when relative humidity is usually 60% or more.

So does a dehumidifier help eliminate mold? Will the mold be completely killed?

If you reduce the humidity by 50% with a dehumidifier and keep it at that level, the mold will become inactive and the situation won't get worse. However, it does not die, it is just inactive and occasionally produces mold spores. There are a number of other methods that can be used to kill mold.

Pr80 Dehumidifier for Mold Removal

Simple methods to remove mold

1. Steam

You can use steam to heat mold, preferably 180 to 220 degrees with a steam purifier, which will kill most mold. But remember, there are many different types of mold, some of which are heat resistant.

2. Tea tree oil

You can spray the tea tree oil and water solution with about 2 teaspoons to 2 cups of water. The only drawback to this method is that it produces a very strong odor, and tea tree oil is expensive, but it works well.

3. Grapefruit seed extract

Mixed grapefruit seed extract or citrus seed extract with water. You mix 20 drops of citrus seed extract with 2 cups of water, mix in a spray bottle and spray the area with mold, but remember not to rinse.

4. Vinegar

you can put vinegar directly in the spray bottle and spray it on the area with mold, also do not rinse. It's the cheapest way to make it, but will have a very strong flavor like tea tree oil.

Care needs to be taken in eliminating mold, and it recommended that you wear a mask, especially if you destroy mold to prevent the appearance of mold spores in the air. In addition, you should isolate this area as much as possible so that the mold spores cannot circulate to another area because mold spores grow very rapidly.

5. Dehumidifier: the most effective way to remove mold

When dealing with mold, it is best to use a commercial dehumidifier with pump in the room. When there is excessive moisture in the air, the efficient dehumidifier will help absorbe the moisture and compress it into liquid water that will be drained through a pipe. Also, mold prefers a dark and airless environment, so applying a dehumidifier is a good idea.

Three causes of mold growth

1. The growth chain between mycorrhizal spores.

2. Porous surface materials that are prone to mold growth, such as wood, walls, etc.

3. The relative humidity is above 60%. (That's why using a dehumidifier to control humidity helps prevent mold formation)

But remember, you still need to remove any existing mold.

In addition to removing mold spores from the air, another way to prevent mold regrowth is to use a dehumidifier. While it's impossible to kill mold immediately, good protection is essential. Hongtai dehumidifier can effectively help you control the re-growth of mold, but also can effectively control the relative humidity of your space for a long time, after using Hongtai dehumidifier, you have reasons to believe that no longer be disturbed by the mold.

When you find mold, the most important thing is to consider the source of the mold and make sure that the cause of the mold occurring in the first place has been remedied. How to get rid of the mold? Only Hongtai!
